ICON 13 held was a roaring success! Over 400 SCS supporters celebrated the art of drag and the accomplishments of SCS! Thank you all for joining us to celebrate our achievements and in support of the important work that SCS continues to do in our LGBTQ community. As it does every year the evening left a lasting impression reminding us all of the real-life impact of the work of this agency. Thank you to Maria Vera-Carillo for courageously sharing her story with us. It was moving to hear about the many challenges that Maria has had to overcome to live a life of hope and positivity, and we at SCS are honored to have supported that journey. It was also inspiring to hear the words of Jacque Larrainzar, who spoke so eloquently about the importance of our Immigrant, Refugee, Undocumented Outreach Program (IRUO) and its attendant uncompensated care.
This year's ICON raised funds to support the care and services we offer at SCS including our LGBTQ IRUO Program. Through community support to IRUO, SCS has conducted groundbreaking research and is framing services for our work.
ICON would not be the best fundraiser in town without the performances of our amazing local artists. Their performances, led off by our own Miss Aleksa Manila, were fabulous, moving and wonderfully affirming. A huge thank you to them and Miss Aleksa Manila for her tireless work to bring together another spectacular evening. Ms. Manila continues to bring her wit and charm while guiding guests through world-class entertainment with her fabulous FRIENDS... Be sure to visit the SCS Facebook page for event photos.
